I did my SSI Advanced Open Water and Coral Restoration course there and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The whole crew is super fun, chill, and really know their stuff. The gear was top-notch and everything ran so smoothly. The corals were vibrant, tons of fish around, even turtles and reef sharks popping by. The trips to Kambing and Liukang islands were next level too — so much action underwater! Everything from the dives to the vibe at the dive center made it feel like home. Everything was perfectly organized from the very first message, smooth communication, easy coordination, and a warm welcome when we arrived. I’ve just returned from a an unforgettable week of conservation, wellness, and connection in Bira, Indonesia, combining the expertise of Gaia One’s marine restoration programme with the serene hospitality of Tevana House Reef, and I cannot recommend this experience highly enough. The coral restoration work led by Marco and Steph from the Gaia One team was nothing short of inspiring. Their passion for marine conservation is infectious, and they strike the perfect balance between education and hands-on participation. We spent our days learning about coral biology, reef ecosystems, and restoration techniques before getting in the water to actively contribute to their vital work. The team’s dedication to restoring our planet’s reefs is commendable, and being able to play even a small part in this crucial mission was incredibly rewarding. The diving experiences were expertly organised, with knowledgeable dive leaders (special thanks to Dheni and Aldi) who ensured our safety whilst helping us spot some spectacular marine life, including several shark encounters! Tevana House Reef provided the perfect sanctuary for this experience. Nori and the entire team’s commitment to sustainable, mindful hospitality is evident in every detail. The eco-boutique resort truly embodies its name – ‘Pleasurable Garden’ in Sanskrit – with its minimalist design incorporating traditional Phinisi woodwork and breathtaking ocean views. The culinary experience at Tevana Vida Kitchen exceeded all expectations. The predominantly vegetarian and vegan Asian fusion cuisine, prepared with organic ingredients, was both delicious and nourishing – providing exactly the fuel we needed for our active days. Every meal was a delight. Sjenades’ breathwork and yoga sessions were the perfect complement to our diving and conservation work, helping us reconnect with nature and ourselves. The holistic approach to wellness here – nurturing mind, body, and soul – created a truly balanced experience. What sets Tevana House Reef apart is their genuine commitment to sustainability. From their rainwater harvesting system and wastewater garden to the use of organic soaps that naturally water their gardens, every aspect of the operation minimises environmental impact. Incredible 4 weeks doing the Coral Reef Restoration course with Marco and the team at GaiaOne. Staying on site at the beautiful Tevana House Reef, the team were super friendly, helpful and fun from start to finish. We had the pleasure of getting to know Marco, Steff, Aldi, Sul and Dia during our time there and their knowledge, passion and expertise is top notch. The access to the house reef for snorkelling, night dives and coral nurseries to learn about restoration was so easy, and then access to more advanced and exciting dive sites at Kambing and Liukang islands was the perfect compliment. The equipment was good quality, the boats & captains reliable and the tea/coffee/snacks plentiful. Whether for a few days or a month long course I cannot recommend GaioOne enough - a truly special place, incredible marine life, exciting reef restoration and great people. Wir haben spontan einen Schnorchelausflug gebucht (ohne Unterkunft) es war die richtige Wahl - super nettes Team, wir haben uns sehr gut aufgehoben gefühlt. We had an amazing time diving with Gaia One in Bira! Everything was super well organized, with only a small group on the boat (just 5 of us including guides, the other day only the 3 of us!), which made the experience really relaxed and personal. The crew was so nice and helpful, even taking great care of my underwater camera. Fantastic value too, with tasty snacks and lunch included. The dives around Kambing island were safe, chill, and full of life—schooling fish, sharks, barracudas, tunas, turtles, rays everywhere! We also loved joining their coral restoration activities. Nori and Marco run a very organised operation and were flexible with timing / sites to accomodate preferences and travel time. I dove with Pak Dheni who was an excellent guide and spotter, and a lot of fun on the boat. Everyone is very friendly. Their reef conservation work is also very interesting and inspiring and it is nice to see the structures along the house reef. Dive sites are great with a good variety of both big and small things.
